The cast, originally foreseen for performance of Tristan und Isolde, looks impressive. Tenor Michael Weinius and soprano Carla Filipcic Holm both make their debut with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, while mezzo-soprano Raehann Bryce-Davis and bas Goran Juric happily return to our house. Musical director Alejo Pérez is leading them together with, for the first time since March, the (almost) full orchestra and chorus in a programme full of repertoire to wallow. With excerpts from Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Beethoven's Fidelio and Verdi's Macbeth upto Wagner's stronger Die Walküre and Lohengrin and Berlioz' Damnation de Faust, all ingredients are there to start 2021 in a radiant way.
