Barbara Tacchini

Barbara Tacchini was born in Basel (Switzerland) and studied German, musicology and Scandinavian Studies at the Universities of Basel and Freiburg. She was hired as a dramaturgy- and directorsassistant at the Basel Theater (among others for Christoph Marthaler) and at the Institute for Music Theater of the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe. From 1999 to 2001 she worked as an associate in the Center Theater Theaterpädagogisches Plus, at the Theater Basel and worked as a freelance dramaturg for musical worldpremieres, including Matthias Heep's opera's Fallschirmseide, Der falsche Tod and Klangkörperklang by Daniel Ott. In the Swiss pavilion at Expo 2000 in Hanover Tacchini worked as musical director and manager. From 2001 to 2006 she served as dramaturg engaged at the Staatsoper Hannover with focus on concert, opera and youth projects and staged several concerts and the opera Notstrom. Barbara Tacchini also worked as an author of several children's concerts, as well as director of child- and adolescent composingprojects, including such with the composer Willy Daum, Juliane Klein, Mela Meierhans and Matthias Kaul. Since 2006/07, she is dramaturg at the Stuttgart Opera and artistic director of the Young Opera. She has a strong cooperation with the director and composer Ruedi Häusermann and with the composer Juliane Klein.
