With AAN TAFEL, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen launches a series of panel discussions that explore the season’s theme, À la flamande, in greater depth. Writer and radio presenter Heleen Debruyne invites a selection of experts to join her around the proverbial table to discuss the social issues raised by our productions. Expect thought-provoking evenings with fascinating guests, where you will also have the opportunity to share your own questions and reflections.

AAN TAFEL #2 DE TAEL IS GANSCH HET VOLK

In Flanders, the role of Dutch as a language of culture and education regularly finds itself at the centre of heated debate. How has the Flemish cultural movement shaped our Flemish identity, and what impact has it had on the position of Dutch in the media, the arts and education? How do we address the linguistic challenges facing Flanders today?

Heleen Debruyne explores these questions in conversation with Tom Lanoye, Kevin Absillis, Els Consuegra, Sibo Rugwiza Kanobana and Lisette Ma Neza.
