Misako Kato

Dancer

The Japanese Misako Kato studied from 1998 to 2001 at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow and then until 2003 at the Canada National Ballet School IDP. In the same year she became a member of the Canadian Royal Winnipeg Ballet and in 2010 she joined the NBA Ballet Company in Tokyo. Four years later, Kato joined the company of the Meininger Staatstheater and then the Landestheater Eisenach. She danced major roles in Uwe Scholz' Piano Concerto No. 3, Christopher Wheeldon's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Joe Hasham's A Streetcar Named Desire, Jorge Pérez Martínez' Entwined Isolation, Jiří Kylián's 27'52'' and Ohad Naharin's George & Zalman. In 2017, Misako Kato became a member of the Ballet of the Opéra national du Rhin, and since 2019 she has been part of the company of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. In 2022 she was seen in the world premiering creations Palmos by Andonis Foniadakis, C(h)oeurs 2022 by Alain Platel and Futur proche by Jan Martens, among other productions.
