Maria Seletskaja

Maria Seletskaja was born in Estonia in 1984. She studied at the Tallinn Ballet School from 1993 until 2002. She continued her studies at prestigious Vaganova Academy in St.Petersburg, Russia, graduating with distinction in 2003. She started her professional career at the Estonian National Opera where she stayed from 2003 until 2005. At the same time she did her studies at Tallinn University, and graduated in 2006 as a Bachelor in Choreography. Maria joined Staatsballett Berlin in 2005 as a member of corps de ballet and was promoted each year, reaching soloist status in 2007. In 2009 Maria joined Zürcher Ballet as a first soloist. Since 2011 she is dancing with the Royal Ballet of Flanders as a first soloist. During her professional career Maria built an impressive repertoire. She has performed leading parts in big classical ballet such as Swan Lake, Giselle and Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadère etc., as well as diverse neoclassical and contemporary works. Maria is guest artist at the National Theatre Belgrade (Serbia) and at the Estonian National Ballet.
Currently Maria studies orchestra conducting with R. Saglimbeni and D. Ham, pursuing her dream to become professional ballet conductor. She plays piano and studies violin. Besides this, she also designs and produces ballet costumes and tutus. Maria regularly participates in international ballet galas and festival, representing Royal Ballet of Flanders internationally. Maria also has a son, Benjamin.
