Mikio Kato

Mikio Kato was born in Japan. Between 2001 and 2011 he studied at the Hitomi Takeuchi Ballet School and then, from 2011, at the Princess Grace Academy in Monte-Carlo. He subsequently became a member of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo in 2014. During that period, he danced in creations by Jean-Christophe Maillot such as Entrelac, Romeo and Juliet and Swan Lake. Kato won the gold medal at the Youth America Grand Prix in Japan in 2011 and was also the winner of the Prix de Lausanne in 2014. In 2013 he worked for the first time with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui in his In Memoriam in Monte-Carlo. Since the 2016-2017 season, he has been a member of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen company. He has danced in productions including Noetic by Cherkaoui, Giselle and Creature by Akram Khan and Tempus Fugit choreographed by Johan Inger.
