Theresa Maria Schlichtherle

Theresa Maria Schlichtherle lives and works between the Allgäu (southern Germany) and Italy. She studied theatre studies and musicology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and performing arts at the IUAV University of Venice. In recent years, she has directed, amongst other works, the chamber opera Lady Magnesia (Mieczysław Weinberg) for the Bavarian State Opera at Brainlab in Munich (2024) and the world premiere of Isithunzi at the Munich Biennale for New Music Theatre and the Wiesbaden State Theatre (2026). She also regularly collaborates closely with director Ersan Mondtag. As co-founder of the performance collective Call Monica and the artistic-curatorial platform Extragarbo, she has worked for the Santarcangelo Festival, the Münchner Kammerspiele, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and the Fondazione Pinault in Venice. In her own artistic practice, she also explores the dynamics of success and failure, including through an artistic intervention at the Triennale Milano and a film project.
