Zoë Ashe-Browne

The Irish dancer Zoë Ashe-Browne graduated from The English National Ballet School in London in 2009. She subsequently danced with the company of The English National Ballet, The National Ballet of Ireland in Dublin and the German Ballett Vorpommern. She has been a member of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen company since the 2018-19 season, where she has danced in Jeanne Brabants' Cantus Firmus and Alexander Ekman’s JOY, among other productions, and she originated the role of Queen Victoria in Daniel Proietto's RASA [after La Bayadère]. She also danced in Mea Culpa, Memento Mori and other productions by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and in works by Martha Graham, Meryl Tankard, Akram Khan and Alain Platel. Zoë Ashe-Browne is also taking her first steps as a choreographer. In 2013 and 2018 she received a Dance Bursary Award from the Arts Council Ireland. At the invitation of The National Ballet of Ireland, she choreographed a piece for the 2020 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2021, she was the first winner of the Arts Council Ireland's Markievicz Award. The substantial prize money associated with this helped her to further build a career as a choreographer and also to develop podcasts. Her work Flux, which she created for Choreolab at OBV in 2019, has since been invited to the Limerick Dance Festival, Valencia Dancing forward in Spain, and the reopening of Schouwburg Kortrijk after the pandemic. In 2023, her work Hózhóó was featured during Choreolab.
