From Folk Poetry

Musici of the Chorus and Orchestra of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen perform works by Mahler, Schumann, Brahms and Sjostakovitsj.

Folk art and folklore have been rich sources of inspiration for both Romanticism and Modernism. From the folk gems of Mahler's 'Wunderhorn-Lieder' to Szymanowski's ethnically inspired 'Songs of the Kurpiowska Forest' to compelling, Jewish sounds in Shostakovich's cycle 'From Jewish Folk Poetry': All the music in this concert combines a folk accent with artistic sophistication.
