Richard Siegal guides our dancers through resounding and machinic universes, Sharon Eyal leaves no muscle fibre unmoved with pumping techno

Two seasons ago, the pulsating Half Life had an explosive impact. In it, Sharon Eyal shows how one individual always manages to escape from the oppression of a group dynamic. Pop influences merge with classical traditions, the body equals the machine and even the darkness becomes tangible. In addition to the dance, spectators were altogether intoxicated by Ori Lichtik’s rousing, electronic music.

While Eyal started her career with Ohad Naharin’s legendary Batsheva Dance Company, the second choreographer on the programme got his start working with the equally well-known William Forsythe. Richard Siegal’s interdisciplinary quest for contemporary ballet has taken him to Europe’s largest dance companies and festivals, but also to museums such as the Centre Pompidou. For his world creation New Ballet mécanique, Siegal joins forces with installation and sound artist Zimoun, who creates immersive worlds full of movement and sound from constructions of everyday materials.
