In collaboration with Studio Skoop, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen presents a captivating selection of films inspired by the operas and dance performances featured on their billboards. The film titles not only connect with the themes and/or music of the staged works but also with the scenic concepts of the productions.

Director Fritz Lang created a peculiar combination of comedy, soap opera, gangster film, musical, and social criticism with his film "You and Me." Inspired by Bertolt Brecht's Lehrstücke, which are educational theater pieces, Lang crafted a film noir on the theme of crime. The music in the film is composed by Kurt Weill, known for his frequent collaborations with Brecht, including works like Die Dreigroschenoper (1928), Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (1930), and the ballet chanté Die sieben Todsünden (1933).

Fritz Lang - United States - 1938 - 94 min. Starring Sylvia Sidney, George Raft, Barton MacLane, Harry Carey,...

Exclusive screening on Sunday, December 10th, at 2:30 PM at Studio Skoop.
