After years of intense performances and training, Greek dancer and choreographer Ioannis Mandafounis developed a personal methodology for movement. To truly touch the audience, he believes dancers must give something of themselves. In Join, they offer pure joy. Mandafounis connects dancers at different stages of their lives and careers. By bringing together a top-level professional ensemble with a group of dance students from the Conservatory that shares a home with DE SINGEL, he proves that people can unite in their diversity. The result is a flowing choreography filled with passion, connection, and delight. The wild explosion at the end is incredibly moving, as the dancers surrender almost naively to the pounding bass. It’s a joy to share in their infectious amusement.
