Young promising singers in concert
The Queen Elisabeth Competition for Voice laureates’ concert is a rightly cherished tradition of Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. Following the thrilling competition – which, now more than ever, you can follow online and on TV – voice and opera enthusiasts are given a unique opportunity to hear the laureates perform live in a relaxed atmosphere.
In 1988, the Queen Elisabeth Competition, previously known for its violin and piano sections, was opened up to singing for the first time. 2027 will see the eleventh edition of the singing competition, in which young singers must prove themselves in various vocal disciplines (lied, opera and oratorio).
The programme for this laureates’ concert features a fine selection of highlights from the opera repertoire. We will only know who will be singing in this concert after the announcement of the results. What is certain, however, is that the soloists can count on the support of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen Symphony Orchestra, led by the young Italian-Russian maestro Sieva Borzak.
