On 12 September, a colourful procession made its way through Ghent, with two façades taking centre stage. This marked the first performance of a two-part art project by Thomas Verstraeten. Moving the façades raised questions such as: Can you capture a city in a single sound? What sounds lie hidden behind the façades? And what happens when those different sounds come together?

From 29 October, the façades will form the backdrop for a unique performance in which a newly formed city orchestra of musical Ghent residents will steal the show. From hurdy-gurdies and homemade instruments to a DJ set… ‘The Revolt of the Façades: The Opera’ celebrates the city in all its diversity.
