Asking questions, showing empathy and reaching out to others is the core theme at Opera Ballet Vlaanderen this season – and that is what our artists do best in their work and in their lives. We ask seven questions to Ana Maria Lucaciu, who is choreographing What You Are About To See.

1 — Are you good at asking questions?

I don't think I'm a natural at asking questions, no. But it's something I've been working on for years, and I've found that the best time to practise is when I'm creating something new.

2 — Who asked you the best question ever?

That's difficult. Probably my partner. He always asks the right question. The simplest and at the same time the most difficult: 'Why exactly that?

3 — Which question should have been asked a long time ago?

Is this the best we can do? And if not, how can we do better?

4 — Which question would you like to ask someone you love?

How can I make your daily life better?

5 — What question would you like to ask someone you don't understand?

How do you see it and why that way?

6 — Who do you like to listen to?

Anyone who asks questions and accepts that there are no “right” answers.

7 — What question would you like to ask our audience with your work?

What connects us all? ∆
