Wim Vandekeybus makes a grand debut with Carmen
'If I were to direct one opera, it would be Carmen.'

With Bizet’s iconic classic, Wim Vandekeybus, one of Belgium’s leading choreographers, makes his debut as an opera director with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. And he’s doing it in a big way. For the first time, all our departments are coming together in a single production: soloists, chorus, children’s choir, thirteen dancers from our company, four dancers from Ultima Vez, children from a karate school, and the symphony orchestra conducted by Keren Kagarlitsky.
Together, nearly two hundred artists bring this Carmen to life. Rehearsals are in full swing, but one thing is certain: this will be a Carmen to remember.
