Content warnings

Opera Ballet Vlaanderen brings its productions with great care after an intense creative process. Our performances are fictional or theatrical translations of subjects that often showcase reality in a confronting manner. Themes such as (sexual) violence, acts of war, suicide or incest are frequently dealt with in opera and ballet. These themes can be artistically or explicitly present, depending on the context of the creative vision. When images or elements in a story that could be experienced as shocking are a part of a production, we warn our audience in advance and formulate a content warning. To give the creative process the freedom it needs, we can not (always) provide this before the start of the ticket sale.

At the latest two weeks before the premiere, the most recent information on subjects and themes are shared on our website and by mail.
