Manager Dance

As Dance Manager, you will work alongside the Opera and Concert Artistic Managers to realise the company's artistic vision, under the leadership of Artistic Director Jan Vandenhouwe. Acting as Company Manager, you oversee the day-to-day running of the company, from the financial side to artistic planning. You will help the company grow and consolidate its international standing as a pioneering force in contemporary dance.


RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS


  • You will be responsible for the integral seasonal programming and work out the short-, medium- and long-term programming. To this end, you work very closely with the artistic directors and ensure a clear operational translation of the artistic vision.
  • You are in charge of the daily management of the ballet company from A to Z: this includes - together with your team - shaping the projects, training sessions, rehearsals, tours and performances.
  • You are the point of contact for the producers of OBV regarding the production processes.
  • You respect the management agreement, have an eye for the company values and comply with the welfare and safety policy of the organization;
  • You recruit dancers and negotiate contracts with choreographers and other artistic functions related to the company's training, rehearsals and performances. In doing so, you follow the ambition in terms of quality and artistic interpretation of OBV and the artistic management and adhere to the budgetary frameworks.
  • You draw up and follow up budgets and planning and evaluate them


PROFILE


  • You have experience in and a talent for inspiring leadership in a dynamic and artistic working environment.
  • You are familiar with the complex decision-making processes of an artistic organization.
  • You are result-oriented, have organizational talent and communication skills.
  • You have extensive experience in and a warm heart for performing arts in general. You have a thorough interest in dance and ballet history and knowledge of contemporary trends in the dance world.
  • You understand what dancers need to perform at the highest level and know how to create the right conditions for them to excel both artistically and professionally.
  • You have a large network and knowledge of the relevant actors in the dance world at home and abroad.
  • You have financial-analytical insight and experience in drawing up, maintaining and controlling budgets.
  • Possesses university degree (or HOLT) or is equivalent through experience.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You are approachable and inspire and motivate those around you.
  • You know how to deal with all levels within the organization.
  • Budget management and management reporting have no secrets for you.
  • You can express yourself in Dutch and in English, spoken and written, or are prepared to master this in a very short time.
  • You are willing to work weekends and evenings.
