International Opera Academy
Aperitif concerts by talented artists from our own company, with whom you can have a drink afterwards in the foyer
As per tradition, we conclude the series of aperitif concerts with the top talent eager to storm the opera scene: the students of the International Opera Academy in Ghent. In a staged concert, they give their best performance. Revenge: a justifiable human reaction? Unconscious or conscious? Without effect or with an irreversible outcome? In this program, we unravel different facets of revenge. Not only through grand dramatic revenge arias but also with works that capture the more nuanced psychology of this theme. Director and choreographer Darren Ross encapsulates everything into a layered performance in which the students of the International Opera Academy can indulge in arias and ensembles by Benjamin Britten, Igor Stravinsky, Kurt Weill, and Pascal Dusapin, among others.
