Based in Basel, visual artist Tabea Rothfuchs has been creating media scenographies and video installations for international opera, dance and performance productions for more than a decade. Rothfuchs studied audiovisual communication, interaction media and transdisciplinary arts in Basel, Lucerne and Zurich. She collaborated on projects at Theater an der Wien, Theater Basel, Konzerthaus and Philharmonie Berlin, Zurich Opera, Copenhagen Opera Festival, International Theater Festival in Amman and for a research trip by the Goethe Institute to the Sinjar District in northern Iraq.
Rothfuchs has collaborated with leading directors and companies such as Barbora Horáková Joly, Patricia Kopatchinskaja, La Fura dels Baus, Volksbühne Basel, Lydia Steier, Sebastian Nübling, Chris Kondek, Georges Delnon and Bryan Arias. Her interactive installation Emergence was nominated for the Prix Ars Electronica 2016. In 2020, the dance production 29. May 1913 - Le Sacre du printemps with Bryan Arias won the prestigious FAUST award. Ernani is Rothfuch's second collaboration with director Barbora Horáková Joly.
