Singers and orchestra members affiliated with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen treat you each month to a relaxing aperitif concert. Great works from the chamber music repertoire alternate with rarely performed pieces and forgotten gems. After each concert, there is an opportunity to chat with the musicians. One drink is included in the ticket for each concert.
With his Siegfried Idyll for chamber ensemble, Richard Wagner offered a tender birthday gift to his wife Cosima. It is the centrepiece of a concert focusing on the string section of the Symphony Orchestra of OBV. In contrast, we hear the expansive sonorities of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and the youthful, sparkling energy of one of Mendelssohn’s string symphonies. Musical direction is in the hands of Stephan Zilias.
