Guided tours
Behind the productions that can be seen on our stages lies an entire machinery: our artists rehearse hard while the workshops are busy working on sets, props, and costumes. During a tour, we explain how all of this comes together to create opera and ballet. Additionally, you can take a look at the impressive halls and learn more about the history. Starting this season, you can also book a tour that focuses on the technical aspects of presenting opera and ballet.
Through an interactive tour, we unveil the mystery of the busy beehive that is Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. During the tour, both in front of and behind the scenes, stories of the present come to light. Together, we explore the creative processes that make Opera Ballet Vlaanderen an inspiring house inhabited by passionate staff.
A Glimpse Behind the Scenes
From 3rd kindergarten class. For kindergarten, primary, secondary, DKO, higher education, NT2, and OKAN
For OKAN and NT2 classes (waystage/level 2), we organize tours to practice Dutch outside the school context. We love to hear stories about your family and what you did in the past. We look for what can connect us: maybe through the professions we encounter in our workshops, or through music, dance, rituals... Together with the teacher, we explore the functioning of the house and mainly let you do the talking.

The Production Process Unraveled
What is not always visible to the audience, we reveal with this technical tour. Together with our technical colleagues, we unravel an ongoing production. From which design did they start, who is involved in the creation of sets, props, costumes, wigs...? Discover the specialized techniques in our backstage: the fly system where the sets hang, the light towers where the spots burn, the dessous or the area under the stage.

Tours for Groups (Companies, etc.)
Explore the opera of Ghent, Antwerp, or the ballet at 't Eilandje in Antwerp during an interactive tour where the mystery of OBV is revealed, and the creative processes that make it an inspiring house, along with stories of the present, are investigated.
The tours are available for groups of up to 25 people per guide and take place at Opera Antwerp, Opera Ghent, or Theater 't Eilandje. They last approximately 75 minutes.
€200 per guide (max. 25 people) / duration of the tour: approx. 75 min / language: Dutch.
