Even after Opera Gent closes, we will still be there for you. We are temporarily relocating, but our artists, our staff and our warmth will travel with you to other locations in Ghent and the surrounding area.

In the new season, OBV, due to the renovation and restoration of Opera Ghent, will more often be found on other stages in Ghent and Bruges. We invite you to experience our productions in a new setting. We guarantee that you will encounter the same quality and care in our way of working there as well. Warmth, genuine attention, and a personal welcome remain our hallmark, even on location.

SEASON OPENING 26/27 DURING ODEGAND

We kick off our season in Ghent on Saturday 12 September with De opstand van de gevels-De karavaan during the Odegand weekend. In a large-scale parade, theatre maker Thomas Verstraeten has two façades literally swap neighbourhoods. With a festive procession of thousands of participants, this promises to be an unmissable event.

CAPITOLE GHENT

At Capitole Ghent, OBV presents the dance performances The Sleeping Beauty and Bartók/Beethoven/Schönberg, as well as De Draaischijf, a haunting theatrical monologue by Peter Van den Begin based on the novel by Tom Lanoye. The latter two performances will be accompanied live by our orchestra.

MUZIEKCENTRUM DE BIJLOKE

Muziekcentrum De Bijloke, a familiar venue for many years, is once again the home of a series of special concert moments this season. The programme features two symphonic concerts, the concertante operas Orphée et Eurydice and Lohengrin, and the Queen Elisabeth Competition Laureates’ Concert.

INTERNATIONAL OPERA ACADEMY

The studios of the International Opera Academy on the Bijloke site provide an intimate setting for the opera professionals of tomorrow. A new series of Operalab events will focus on experimentation and talent development.

A new season, a new partner: in the iconic, recently restored building of Kunstencentrum VIERNULVIER – De Vooruit – we are presenting two dance productions: A Wave and Winterreise.

Carmen at Concertgebouw Brugge

We are launching our collaboration with Concertgebouw Brugge with Carmen, Bizet’s beloved opera, directed by Wim Vandekeybus.

Also this season we settle in Concertgebouw Bruges. With Lucifer and De Schelde, FC Bergman brings two oratorios by Peter Benoit to the stage. The performance is conducted by our new music director Stephan Zilias.

Before departure, you will receive all practical information, such as exact times and confirmed pick-up and drop-off locations.
In Antwerp, the bus stops in Osystraat, within walking distance of Opera Antwerp.
In Bruges, the bus stops at the Concertgebouw.
We aim to arrive 75 minutes before the start of the performance.
The bus departs 30 minutes after the performance.
Fare: 20 euros. Discounted fare for Friends and subscribers: 15 euros.
